Appearance:

Heartwood range in colour from light tan to dark brown. Sapwood is usually white up to 50mm wide. Grain is moderately course and variable. Gum veins common. Some wavey grain produces attractive fiddle back figure.

Strength Group: S2 unseasoned SD2 seasoned
Stress Grade: Visually graded to AS2082 – 2000
Structural Grade: Grade 1 GOS F22

Shrinkage to 12% MC: 6.1% tangential 4.3% radial
Durability: Class 2 – Highly resistant to decay when fully exposed to weather and clear of the ground. Moderately resistant to decay in the ground.
Hardness: Very hard. Rated 1 on a scale 1 to 6
Machines: Machines well due to natural greasiness.
Fixing: No difficulty with the use of standard fastenings.
Gluing: Due to greasiness, surface preparation should be completed immediately prior to gluing.
Finishing: Readily accepts stains, varnish and paint.

Wharf & bridge timbers, timber house framing, timber flooring & timber decking, exterior cladding, boat building, tool handles.
